Running Sport Therapy
Our Running Sport Therapy program is designed to guide runners back from injury, mitigate their risk of re-injury and empowering them to enhance their performance as pain-free runners, regardless of level and experience.
The run program is headed up by our sport specialist Dr. Roger Menta who is also a keen runner and currently training for an Ironman. Our experts will conduct a comprehensive evaluation that includes strength and flexibility assessments, and videotaped gait analysis. Using this data, we will tailor recommendations about running technique, strengthening and stretching programs, education around body mechanics, coaching on ways to reduce risk of injury, and shoe selection to your needs. We are the only specialized running clinic in Calgary trained through the prestigious organization The Running Clinic.
We see a multitude of running injuries including:
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Runner’s Knee
- IT Band Syndrome
- Hip Pain
- Calf Strain
- Achilles Tendonitis
- Stress Fractures
“Around 79% of runners experience an injury at least once during the year. These are caused by a wide combination of contributing factors and we take pride in our comprehensive approach to diagnosing and treating your injury.” ~Dr. Roger Menta, DC
Session #1 – 75 min Initial Assessment appointment ($150)
The first session will consist of a practitioner personally observing and recording your running gait in multiple views. Following this session, they will analyze and review the recorded gate in detail, frame by frame, to identify any differences between your current form and optimal running technique. We will also perform a functional screen that will better detect any other issues that may be impeding your performance and/or gait.
Session #2 – 20 min Follow-up appointment ($70)
In your second session, the practitioner will review the findings and explain your results. You will be prescribed running tips, exercises and stretches to help you correct imbalances, improve form, speed, endurance, and prevent injuries.
At this second appointment you and the practitioner can discuss whether you would benefit from further running therapy or performance coaching.
Total Cost – $220
